Russian authorities have lifted a ban on U.S. gaming platform Roblox, Interfax reported on June 10. The Ministry of Digital Development asked law-enforcement agencies on Tuesday to support removing the restrictions after Roblox pledged stronger safeguards for young users and compliance with Russian law. Interfax did not provide further details on the company’s commitments or the timeline for reinstating service.

Moscow, June 10 (Reuters) — Russian authorities have lifted a ban on the U.S. gaming platform Roblox, Interfax news agency reported on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Digital Development said on Tuesday it had formally asked law-enforcement agencies to support removing the restrictions after Roblox pledged to strengthen safeguards for young users and to comply with Russian law. The ministry's request paved the way for the platform to be reinstated for users in Russia.

Roblox, a popular online platform used largely by children and teenagers, has faced scrutiny in a number of countries over safety and moderation of user-generated content. The company’s pledge to bolster protections and adhere to local regulations appears to have satisfied Russian authorities enough to lift the ban, though Interfax did not provide further operational details.

No additional statements from Roblox or from Russian law-enforcement agencies were cited in the Interfax report. Reuters contributed to this report.
