False Claim: A 42-second video shared after June 7–8 exchanges between Iran and Israel does not depict a June 2026 strike on Tehran. Verification: Reverse-image checks link the footage to Al-Araby and an Instagram post from early March 2026; AFP also distributed the clip on March 3. Conclusion: The video is months old and was reused to misrepresent recent events.

Claims that a short video shows an Israeli strike on Tehran in June 2026 are false. A 42-second clip circulating after the June 7–8 exchanges between Iran and Israel was filmed months earlier and has been publicly available since early March.

What Was Claimed

A Thai-language Facebook post on June 8 shared a 42-second video with the caption: "8/6/2026 current scene shows the first moment after the Israeli army bombed a target in Iran." The same clip also appeared on TikTok and in Arabic-language posts following Iran's missile launches at Israel on June 7, 2026.

What Verification Shows

Reverse-image searches of the video's key frames link the clip to earlier posts. Qatari outlet Al-Araby uploaded the footage to YouTube on March 3, 2026, describing it as "moments of a violent airstrike and thick smoke rising over the Iranian capital, Tehran." Al-Araby credited the video to an Instagram account named @miiyo_miyo, which posted the same clip a day earlier with a Persian-language hashtag for Iran.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) also distributed the same footage on March 3, 2026, stating it showed a thick cloud of smoke rising after strikes in Tehran as explosions rocked the capital. Those March strikes followed an attack on February 28 that killed Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and prompted US and Israeli strikes on Tehran.

Context And Takeaway

The video being reshared in June is months old and was documented publicly in early March by regional media and AFP. It has been repurposed to suggest a new Israeli strike on Tehran during renewed Iran–Israel exchanges in June 2026. In short: the clip does not show a June strike and should not be taken as evidence of a new attack on Tehran.

Bottom line: The viral clip dates to early March 2026 and has been reused to misrepresent events following the June 7–8 exchanges.
