Local residents were ordered to remain at home and schools were placed on lockdown.
Multiple Shootings Near West Bank Leave 1 Dead, 5 Wounded; Attacker Identified As Palestinian Citizen Of Israel

Israeli rescue services say a series of shooting attacks near the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Sunday left one person dead and five others wounded. Israel Police said officers shot and killed one attacker, and large numbers of soldiers conducted searches on the ground and by air for any additional assailants.
Timeline and locations: Magen David Adom, Israel’s main emergency service, said the first report arrived at about 10:30 a.m., of a shooting at a gas station near Kokhav Yair on the Israeli side of the boundary with the West Bank. Additional shots were reported soon after in the towns of Tsur Natan and Tsur Yitzhak, and close to the Sal'it settlement inside the West Bank.
Suspect identified: Police identified the shooter as a Palestinian citizen of Israel from the nearby Arab town of Taybeh. Authorities initially feared the multiple attack sites indicated coordinated cross-border assaults, prompting a broad security response.
Civilian measures and response: Local officials ordered residents to stay at home and placed schoolchildren under lockdown while forces searched the area. Large contingents of soldiers and police patrolled by land and air to secure the affected communities and to look for any collaborators or additional attackers.
Since Oct. 7, the scenario we were expecting was terrorists crossing into our towns from over the boundary. I don't think anyone imagined we would discover the attackers were Israeli citizens. — Oshrit Gani Gonen, regional council head
Correction: The report has been updated to clarify that the fatal shooting occurred on the Israeli side of the boundary with the Israeli-occupied West Bank, not inside the West Bank.
The incident is under active investigation by Israel Police and military authorities. Officials have not released additional details about motives or whether the attacker acted alone.
