Repeat Offender Allegedly Pistol-Whips and Shoots Teen After Water-Balloon Prank in Tacoma

A 31-year-old Washington man with four prior felony convictions, Majeed Guerry, is jailed after prosecutors say he chased, assaulted and shot a teenager following a neighborhood water-balloon prank on Feb. 28 in Tacoma.
Police say four teenage boys were driving through the area and throwing water balloons from their vehicle when one struck Guerry’s car and water entered through an open window. According to court documents obtained by FOX 13, Guerry pursued the group to a dead-end street near a dump site.
Once the teens were cornered, investigators allege Guerry pistol-whipped the youth accused of throwing the balloon and then shot that same victim in the chest. Authorities say he then robbed the group of $100 in cash and fled the scene.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after 9 p.m. and found the four boys inside the vehicle; one had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital. Officials report the wounded teenager is expected to survive.
Investigation And Arrest
Investigators used surveillance-camera footage to track Guerry’s movements before and after the incident, and say the footage placed him at the scene. Police also allege he drove to a nearby casino after the attack. Tacoma police arrested Guerry on March 20.
Charges And Court Appearance
Guerry pleaded not guilty in court to counts that include attempted murder, assault, unlawful imprisonment and unlawful possession of a firearm. A judge set bail at $150,000. Prosecutors note that, as a felon with prior assault convictions and protection-order violations, Guerry is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
Before leaving the courtroom, Guerry reportedly shouted to supporters in the gallery, "Come get me," according to court records and media reports.
The Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office had not immediately commented, and Fox News reporting was used to compile details in the complaint and arrest timeline. Local authorities continue to investigate.
