Most of Ukraine's Chernihiv region lost power on Saturday after a Russian drone strike, Governor Viacheslav Chaus said. Repair teams are working to restore the damaged power network, and the regional capital Chernihiv was reported to be completely without electricity. The region borders Russia and Belarus and had a pre-war population of nearly one million. The attack is part of ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure that have caused repeated, multi-hour blackouts nationwide.
Russian Drone Strike Cuts Power to Most of Ukraine's Chernihiv Region

KYIV, March 21 — A Russian drone strike on Saturday left most of Ukraine's northern Chernihiv region without electricity, regional governor Viacheslav Chaus said.
Chaus said repair teams were working to restore the damaged power network. Authorities reported that the regional capital, Chernihiv, was entirely without power.
The Chernihiv region, which borders Russia and Belarus, had a pre-war population of nearly one million people. The outage is the latest in a sustained campaign of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has caused repeated, multi-hour blackouts across the country.
The scale of the damage and the expected time for full restoration were not immediately clear; local officials said repairs were underway.
