Florida Man Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Pregnant Partner to Death With Three Children Present

Oakland Park, Fla. — A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after authorities say they found his partner fatally stabbed inside an apartment while the couple’s three children were inside the unit.
What Happened
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) says deputies responded just before 1 a.m. on Dec. 23 to a report of a domestic disturbance at an Oakland Park apartment. When officers entered the residence, they located a woman suffering from stab wounds; she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the suspect as Mario Alejandro Ramirez, 37, who was found at the residence appearing to have self-inflicted injuries. Deputies “struggled” with Ramirez while applying pressure to stop his bleeding before taking him into custody, the BSO said. He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment and was held without bail before appearing in court on Dec. 26.
Victim and Children
The victim has been identified by local outlets as Fayanni Andreina Ramirez, Ramirez’s partner. Local reports indicate she was pregnant at the time of the attack and that the couple’s three children were inside the apartment during the incident.
Reporting also indicates Fayanni had an active restraining order against Mario Ramirez stemming from a prior, similar incident. Investigators told local media that a motive for the alleged killing has not yet been determined.
Scene and Witnesses
Crime scene photos obtained by local outlets reportedly show blood on a window and a blue tarp covering a body inside the complex. Neighbors described chaotic noises and screaming around the time of the incident. One neighbor told WPLG10 they heard what sounded like furniture being struck and loud screaming; another, Paola Alvarez, told NBC Miami she saw the children run from the apartment covered in blood.
“That’s something they’ll never be able to erase from their minds, never,” Paola Alvarez said.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office and local news outlets provided the details used in this report. The BSO did not immediately provide additional information to media at the time of reporting.
