'Finally Over': Alabama Man Sentenced To Life Without Parole For Raping Girlfriend

Corey Oliver, 41, of Thorsby, Alabama, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Dec. 3 after a jury convicted him in July of raping a woman he had been dating.
Case Details
According to 19th Circuit District Attorney C.J. Robinson, prosecutors say Oliver beat and strangled the victim at knifepoint during the 2018 attack that formed the basis of the conviction. A jury found him guilty of one count of rape in July, and the court imposed the life term on Dec. 3.
Criminal History And Investigation
Robinson said Oliver has more than 10 prior felony convictions and roughly 40 arrests dating back to earlier drug and property offenses that escalated into violent sexual crimes. AL.com reported that the assault occurred in 2018 but only came to the district attorney's office in 2024, prompting a renewed investigation and subsequent indictment. Robinson's office worked with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office to build the case that led to the conviction.
'Corey Oliver had been a menace for my 18-year career,' Robinson said after sentencing, asserting that Oliver had avoided accountability in prior matters when alleged victims declined to press charges or altered their statements. Robinson praised the judge for imposing the maximum punishment and said the sentence prevents him from harming others in the future.
The life sentence carries no possibility of parole. Prosecutors described the outcome as bringing an end to Oliver's 'path of destruction.'
