Mary Trump publicly criticized her uncle, former President Donald Trump, accusing the Trump Store of selling “overpriced junk” and using the presidency to enrich himself. In a video and on Substack she called the merchandise and promotional tactics “endless grifting,” highlighting a $92 MAGA ornament and a reported $1 million “Gold Card” product. She also condemned a White House Instagram cartoon and criticized Trump’s reaction to Rob Reiner’s death as heartless and depraved.
Mary Trump Slams Uncle’s ‘Overpriced Junk,’ Calls Trump Store ‘Endless Grifting’

Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist and author and the daughter of Donald Trump’s older brother Fred, has sharply criticized the festive and MAGA-branded items sold on the former president’s online Trump Store, calling them “overpriced junk” being pushed on Americans facing economic strain.
Accusations of Hypocrisy and Grifting
In a new video posted on her Mary Trump Media site, she accused her estranged uncle of hypocrisy: while he urges families to tighten their belts and skip small purchases like dolls and pencils at Christmas, his merchandise site sells gaudy branded goods and even promotes a reported million-dollar “Gold Card” visa.
“Despite the pretense that they care at all about Christmas, Donald’s policies are causing many Americans serious harm,” Mary said, blaming her uncle’s “awful” economic decisions, including tariffs. “Of course, Donald and the Trump regime won’t be cutting back during these times, because, you know, they’re all billionaires.”
She went on to say that Trump became a billionaire “for the first time in his life” by learning to “use the power of the presidency to grift off the American people,” while expecting ordinary citizens to make sacrifices.
Merchandise and Messaging Under Fire
Mary singled out the Trump Store’s holiday offerings — including the plush “Trumpy Bear” and expensive glass ornaments bearing MAGA imagery — as examples of “endless grifting.” She highlighted a $92 MAGA hat glass ornament and mocked the idea that buying such items is a test of patriotism.
“If you want to prove to Donald that you’re a real American, I think you need to spend $92 [expletive] dollars on a MAGA hat glass ornament,” she said, adding that children’s toys and school supplies were being deprioritized: “Your children don’t need presents. [Expletive] them and their dolls and their pencils.”
Mary argued that loyal supporters are being exploited for profit: “You can spend the rest of the Christmas money meant to buy them presents and food on $90 glass ornaments. The grift never ends. Ever.”
Criticism of White House Messaging and Public Appearances
She also criticized a White House Instagram post that shared a cartoon of Donald Trump in a Santa hat captioned “Daddy’s home,” calling it tone-deaf and unsettling. Mary mocked the couple’s recent tree-lighting appearance as well, noting an awkward hand-holding moment in which Melania’s glove obscured what Mary described as the president’s usually visible bruising — an issue previously reported in other outlets.
“What says ‘Merry Christmas’ like a fascist calling himself ‘Daddy’ standing in front of the people’s house?” she asked.
Response To Remarks About Rob Reiner
Mary also condemned her uncle’s response to the death of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner. Rather than offering condolences, Trump reportedly described Reiner as “struggling” and called him “deranged,” a reaction Mary called heartless. On her Substack, she wrote that the former president was “depraved” and attacked his character sharply.
“Congratulations, Donald. Once again, you have gone out of your way to prove, to anyone who doesn't already know, that you are a depraved, deviant, damaged little man who cannot bear the thought that there are people in this world who are talented, valued, and loved—three things you are not,” she wrote.
Mary Trump’s comments add to an ongoing public feud in which she has frequently criticized her uncle’s policies, behavior, and the commercial use of his political brand.
