Obese man on death row chooses buffet of BBQ, wings, cheeseburger, pizza, ice cream for last meal in Georgia

Stacey Humphreys, 52, scheduled for execution in Georgia, has requested a large buffet-style final meal including brisket, ribs, a bacon double cheeseburger, pizza and ice cream. Humphreys was convicted in the 2003 murders of Cyndi Williams and Lori Brown after allegedly forcing them to reveal PINs and then shooting them; he was later captured following a high-speed chase. A federal judge denied a stay of execution this week and the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a separate appeal in October.

Stacey Humphreys, 52, a Georgia man scheduled to be executed by lethal injection, has requested an extensive, high-calorie buffet as his final meal. The request — which includes barbecue, a bacon double cheeseburger and a meat-lover’s pizza — was confirmed by the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Final Meal Request

The department said Humphreys asked for: barbecue beef brisket, pork ribs, a bacon double cheeseburger, French fries, coleslaw, cornbread, buffalo wings, a meat-lover’s pan pizza, vanilla ice cream and two lemon-lime sodas.

Crime And Conviction

Humphreys was convicted in the 2003 murders of Cyndi Williams, 33, and Lori Brown, 21. Prosecutors say he entered the real estate office where the women worked, produced a stolen gun, forced them to strip and reveal their bank card PINs, and then fatally shot both.

According to the Georgia Attorney General's Office, Williams sustained a tight ligature mark around her neck and had a protruding tongue; Brown suffered a throat hemorrhage consistent with choking or a blow to the throat. After the killings, Humphreys allegedly withdrew $3,000 from the victims' accounts.

Arrest And Statements

Humphreys was captured after a high-speed chase through Wisconsin. When first questioned, he initially said he could not remember the killings, but later admitted responsibility to investigators, stating he knew he had committed the crimes.

He told police he had been overwhelmed by high-interest payday loans and debts tied to a problematic truck.

Legal Status And Context

Humphreys' attorneys asked a federal judge to stay the execution, but the request was denied this week. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a separate appeal in October. If carried out, this would be the first execution in Georgia this year.

Context: Since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty nearly 50 years ago, Georgia has executed 76 men and one woman; 32 men and one woman currently remain on the state's death row.

Health Note: Standing about 6-foot-3 and weighing roughly 305 pounds, Humphreys' height and weight place him in the clinically obese range by standard BMI calculations.
