Binny, a 2-year-old pit bull mix, was discovered tied and zipped inside a suitcase dumped in a dumpster in Everett, Wash., on Nov. 18. She arrived at the Everett Animal Shelter having just given birth, vomiting blood, and with abrasions around her neck, but has responded well to treatment. PETA is offering a $5,000 reward for information, and police ask anyone with tips to call (425) 407-3999. Shelter staff say Binny is recovering and may be ready for adoption soon.

Binny, a roughly 2-year-old pit bull mix, was found bound inside a zipped suitcase that had been dumped in a dumpster on Nov. 18 in Everett, Washington. Responding officers from the Everett Police Department located her on the 8800 block of Evergreen Way after calls about an abandoned animal, and transported her immediately to the Everett Animal Shelter (EAS).

Emergency Rescue and Treatment

When shelter staff examined Binny they discovered she had just given birth, was vomiting blood, and had abrasions around her neck. Ofc. CJ Hawley told local media the dog had rope around her and had been zipped into the luggage. Ofc. Kargopoltseva brought Binny to EAS, where staff started urgent care right away.

"We ran some blood work, started antibiotics and pain medication, and provided supportive care," said Leslie Wall, assistant manager at EAS, describing the immediate steps taken to stabilize Binny after she arrived in what staff called 'extreme conditions.'

Recovery and Investigation

Under veterinary supervision, Binny has responded well to treatment. Shelter staff report she is active, affectionate with people, and showing signs of steady improvement. While she recovers, Everett police continue to investigate the abandonment and are asking the public for information.

The animal welfare group PETA has offered a $5,000 reward for tips that identify the person responsible. Authorities also seek information about Binny’s missing puppies, who remain unaccounted for. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Everett Police Department non-emergency line at (425) 407-3999.

Although EAS is awaiting a final veterinary assessment, staff are optimistic Binny will be ready for adoption soon. The shelter continues to provide care and rehabilitation while investigators pursue leads.
