Seven people were detained in early-morning raids across Berlin after a large-scale police operation targeting alleged firearms trafficking, authorities said on Wednesday. Officers searched 11 flats, several vehicles and three commercial sites, seizing two firearms and live ammunition.
Operation and Allegations
The suspects, aged between 22 and 52, are accused of trading in semi-automatic firearms on a commercial basis, police said. The action is linked to investigations opened in April aimed at tackling the use of firearms within organised crime networks.
Scope and Statistics
Berlin police recorded 1,119 cases involving the use of firearms in 2025, a reported 68% increase compared with 2024. As of early August, authorities noted more than 62 offences involving live firearms. Around 300 officers, including special forces units, were deployed for the coordinated raids.
Police said the inquiry remains ongoing and further details could be released as the investigation progresses.
