Kennedy Jr. disclosed more than $250,000 in gifts from security consultant and donor Gavin de Becker, including nearly $97,000 in Fiji flights, about $45,000 for a Greece trip, and use of a D.C. vacation home. A spokeswoman said Kennedy followed federal ethics rules; de Becker did not comment.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. disclosed receiving more than $250,000 in gifts from a prominent supporter, including costly flights to Fiji and Greece and the use of a vacation home in Washington, D.C., according to reporting by The Wall Street Journal.

What the Filing Shows

The updated 2025 financial disclosure, which The Wall Street Journal obtained via a records request, identifies Gavin de Becker — a security consultant who provided protective services to Kennedy and was a major donor to his 2024 presidential campaign — as the source of the largest gifts.

The filing lists nearly $97,000 in round-trip airfare to Fiji, where de Becker owns property, and almost $45,000 for a single round-trip flight to and from Greece. It also reports Kennedy's use of de Becker's vacation property in Washington, D.C.

Other Gifts, Income And Finances

The disclosure details additional gifts, including a private flight to Aspen valued at about $900 and WWE box seats. Kennedy also reported $4 million in book advances, including two $2 million payments from Skyhorse Publishing for Unsettled Science and A Defense for Israel, and an expected advance of under $15,000 for an upcoming book, America's Path Back to Moral Leadership.

On assets, Kennedy reported holding between $1 million and $5 million in bitcoin, a vacation property valued in the same range, and a Los Angeles residence valued between $5 million and $25 million. Liabilities include three mortgages and credit-card debt reported between $125,000 and $265,000, down from more than $600,000 in last year’s filing.

A spokeswoman for Secretary Kennedy told The Wall Street Journal that he complies with federal ethics rules and has consulted HHS ethics officials about these disclosures.

The Journal reported that Gavin de Becker did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Why It Matters

Gifts to senior government officials can raise questions about conflicts of interest and compliance with ethics rules, which is why such gifts are required to be disclosed publicly. Kennedy’s updated filing provides a snapshot of his recent outside income, gifts and liabilities and has prompted renewed media scrutiny.
