Allegations and Financial Findings
Local reporting alleges Williams charged more than $4,000 in personal expenses to a municipal purchasing card, including restaurant meals, clothing, haircuts and a movie. Investigators also reported about $2,600 in fuel purchases and said Williams used a city-owned vehicle for personal travel.
Williams testified that he did not intend to misuse public funds, told investigators he had repaid the disputed charges, and said the city card closely resembled his personal card. He also said he replaced both cards to prevent future confusion.

Communications With An 18-Year-Old
Separately, investigators reviewed online communications between Williams and an 18-year-old male high school student that reportedly included sexually suggestive messages and explicit images. A police report noted the exchanges did not meet the threshold for criminal charges because the student was 18 and therefore legally an adult under Georgia law.
However, police referred the matter for administrative review, citing potential policy and ethical concerns about an elected official’s interactions with a student in the context of a city-affiliated program. Williams has said the individual never participated in the city’s “Mayor for a Day” program and that he first met the person on Nov. 30, 2025—before he was sworn in as mayor.

Williams was stripped of certain official privileges on July 17, 2026, while the inquiries continued. He appeared at a public investigative hearing on Sept. 12, 2026, after which the Stockbridge City Council voted to impeach and remove him from office.
