What happened: Four Frontier flight attendants reported headaches and nausea during Flight 1046 from Cleveland to Fort Lauderdale, prompting pilots to request medical personnel at Gate A4.

Outcome: The Airbus A321 landed safely; the return Flight 1045 was canceled. No cause or medical updates have been confirmed.

Context: The case echoes a late‑July American Airlines flight in which crew reported illness after smelling an odor linked to an oven.

Pilots aboard Frontier Flight 1046 asked Fort Lauderdale airport personnel to meet them at the gate after four flight attendants reported headaches and nausea as the aircraft approached its destination.

The Airbus A321 departed Cleveland Hopkins International Airport just before 8 a.m. local time on Thursday, Aug. 13, and landed at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL) at about 10:15 a.m. after roughly two and a half hours in the air, according to FlightAware.

As the jet neared the gate, the flight crew radioed air traffic control to declare a medical situation. In an ATC recording obtained by ATC.com, a pilot can be heard requesting assistance:

"If you could call the tower and have them meet us at our gate, A4, for developing medical. All my flight attendants have had headaches and now three, uh, now four are nauseous."

The return flight, Frontier 1045 from Fort Lauderdale to Cleveland, was scheduled to depart around 11:30 a.m. but was later canceled, per FlightAware. Officials have not confirmed a cause for the crew members' symptoms, and the current condition of the affected flight attendants has not been released.

PEOPLE and other outlets said they reached out to Frontier Airlines, Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport and the Broward County Sheriff's Office for comment; no further details had been provided at the time of reporting.

Related Event

The episode follows a late‑July incident in which six of nine crew members on an American Airlines transatlantic flight reported dizziness and nausea after noticing an odor on board. American said the odor was associated with an onboard oven; that flight diverted to Dublin and paramedics evaluated those affected before passengers were rebooked.

Authorities have not released additional information about any follow-up medical findings related to the Frontier incident. We will update this story if new details become available.
