Surveillance footage recovered by Grenadian police appears to show 44-year-old Elizabeth Waddell walking to a pier at Grand Anse Beach on July 22 and entering the water before drifting out of view. Family members say she left an Airbnb around noon in a swimsuit with only a towel; her phone, ID and shoes were missing. Her husband and relatives have traveled to Grenada to assist the search, and authorities are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward. The U.S. State Department says it is aware of the case.
Surveillance Appears to Show Missing North Carolina Mom Entering Water at Grenada’s Grand Anse Beach

Surveillance footage recovered by the Royal Grenada Police Force appears to show 44-year-old Elizabeth Waddell walking to a pier at Grand Anse Beach in St. George's on July 22, entering the water and then drifting out of the camera's view, relatives say.
Amanda Romano-Harmon, a friend and family spokesperson, told reporters the footage captures Waddell — a North Carolina mother and physical therapist — swimming or floating near the pier before she disappears from the camera frame. Police have confirmed they recovered video but have not publicly released any images tied to the investigation.
Circumstances and Search Efforts
Waddell had been on a three-week vacation with a close friend identified as Heather. According to the family, she left the Airbnb they were sharing around noon wearing only a swimsuit and carrying a towel. Heather later found Waddell's towel near the property but no phone, ID, shoes or other signs of her.
'It shows her … floating, swimming around, but then she, you know, she floats out of the camera view and so that's the last footage of Liz,' Romano-Harmon said.
Waddell's husband, Cailen Waddell, and other family members have traveled to Grenada to assist local authorities with search efforts. The Royal Grenada Police Force has appealed to boaters and residents in the area to report any sightings or information that could help locate her. The U.S. State Department has acknowledged it is aware of the case.
What Authorities Are Asking
Police are asking anyone who was in the Grand Anse Beach or nearby pier areas on July 22, or anyone with surveillance or boat-camera footage from that day, to contact the Royal Grenada Police Force. Family and authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information, no matter how small it may seem.
