Dodgers Present President Trump With Personalized World Series Ring — "Do I Have To Report This?"

The Los Angeles Dodgers presented President Donald Trump with a personalized World Series ring during the team's White House visit on Thursday, prompting the president to quip, "Do I have to report this?" The gift marked a departure from the usual practice of presenting a custom jersey to the sitting president.

Presentation and Reaction

Dodgers principal owner Mark Walter, who is also CEO of Guggenheim Partners, stepped forward to present the ring. As he began, "We'd like to present this to you as an honorary —" Trump reacted with visible surprise and amusement.

"Oh, wow. Oh, you have to be kidding, huh? Wow. Do I have to report this? I don't wanna report this! That's beautiful. Thank you very much."

Walter added with a smile, "It's got your name on it, so it's fully worth it to you." Trump agreed and held the ring up for the cheering crowd.

Remarks to the Team

In his remarks to the championship team, Trump joked about his limited baseball knowledge while referencing other matters on his agenda, saying he had "been a little busy with Iran and some other things." He added, "If I know too much, you wouldn't be happy. I wouldn't be doing a good job if I know too much."

Trump also drew attention to the White House's renovated Rose Garden and a new black calligraphy sign, asking rhetorically whether former President Joe Biden would have done the same and answering, "I don't think so." He said the previous garden often had wet grass that caused "a lot of very upset women who would stand there in high heels, and they'd go down like quicksand."

Video of the exchange was shared by the White House on YouTube.

Context: The Dodgers visited the White House as the 2025 World Series champions; the team also won the title in 2024, making this the club's second consecutive White House visit in recent years.
