Samuel Opoku, 30, who gained notoriety in 2019 for a series of feces-dumping attacks in Toronto, was arrested on May 12 and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent exposure. The alleged assaults occurred on May 9 and May 10 and involved two separate female victims. Opoku previously faced multiple charges related to the 2019 incidents and was released on $1,000 bail after his lawyer raised mental health concerns.

Samuel Opoku, a 30-year-old man long associated with a series of disturbing public incidents in Toronto, was arrested on May 12 and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent exposure, police and media reports say.

Police allege that on May 9 Opoku approached a group of women walking along a sidewalk, made sexual advances toward one woman, grabbed her forearm and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The following day, on May 10, he is accused of following another woman into an office building, grabbing her from behind and assaulting her before running away.

Opoku previously drew notoriety in 2019 after a string of incidents in which he reportedly dumped buckets of human waste on strangers. Those attacks — which allegedly included victims at or near the University of Toronto and inside a university library — prompted criminal charges at the time.

Following the 2019 incidents, he was charged with five counts each of assault with a weapon and mischief interfering with property. His lawyer told courts that he was mentally ill, and according to news reports Opoku was released on $1,000 bail after about three weeks in custody.

“A young girl had a bucket of waste, feces, dumped on her,” Constable David Hopkinson told The Toronto Star in 2019. “I don’t know what to say, I’m at a loss — this is absolutely disgusting.”

Authorities say the new charges stem from recent complaints and that the investigations are ongoing. Court dates and further procedural details have not been confirmed in all reports. Local media outlets including The Toronto Star and national outlets have covered both the earlier incidents and the most recent arrest; details reported here reflect those sources.

Note: The allegations against Opoku are criminal charges; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
