55-Year-Old Jennifer McCormick Missing 10 Days After Leaving Michigan Home; Authorities Appeal for Public Help

Authorities in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, are asking the public for help locating Jennifer McCormick, a 55-year-old woman with Down Syndrome who has been missing since May 13.
Jennifer was last seen at about 5:30 p.m. on May 13 leaving the Alamo Township home she shared with her brother and caregiver, Michael McCormick, on West AB Avenue, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office and local outlets WoodTV and WWMT. Michael said he left the house briefly to run an errand and returned to find Jennifer gone. After searching the house and the surrounding yard for roughly 30 minutes, he notified police.
"I went in my room, turned my computer on, and about a half-hour later, I went to the stairs and I said, 'Are you all right?' She didn't answer," Michael told WoodTV. "After a half hour of searching, I called the police and said, 'My little sister's gone.'"
Jennifer is described in a missing-person flyer circulated on Facebook as having brown hair and blue eyes, standing 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. Investigators say she is generally "high functioning" but remains dependent on family for care.
At a May 22 press briefing, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said Michael has been Jennifer’s primary caregiver since their mother died in 2022. Sheriff Fuller told reporters that investigators suspect a disruption in Jennifer’s routine may have contributed to her disappearance, though officials are not alleging any criminal activity at this time.
Investigators report no credit-card activity or contact from Jennifer since she vanished, and they believe she did not have cash or a cellphone when she left. Search efforts have included canine units and a drone team focused on the area where she was last seen. Deputies have received a few tips, but as of the most recent updates no concrete leads have produced results.
Anyone with information about Jennifer McCormick’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the Kalamazoo Consolidated Dispatch Authority at 269-488-8911. Media outlets including People magazine reported they reached out to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
