Ramy Hany Mounir Fahim pleaded guilty to ambushing and fatally stabbing his co-worker Griffin Cuomo and Cuomo's roommate Johnathan Bahm in their Anaheim apartment on April 19, 2022. Prosecutors say Fahim waited on the building's roof, forced entry and used a "hunting dagger," with Cuomo suffering at least 40 stab wounds. Investigators found troubling notes on Fahim's computer and reports of erratic behavior. A jury found Fahim sane; he faces two consecutive life sentences without parole.

A 30-year-old financial analyst, Ramy Hany Mounir Fahim, has pleaded guilty after ambushing and fatally stabbing his co-worker, Griffin Cuomo, and Cuomo's roommate, Johnathan Bahm, at their Anaheim, California, apartment on April 19, 2022. A jury later found Fahim sane at the time of the killings; he faces two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Case Details

Prosecutors say Fahim waited for hours on the apartment building's roof before gaining access to the unit. A building guard reported seeing Fahim on the roof earlier that day, and he was also observed on the apartment's floor the morning of the attack. Investigators allege Fahim forced entry, ambushed Cuomo and stabbed him repeatedly. Johnathan Bahm, who was reportedly on a 911 call pleading for help, was also killed after Fahim pushed through the door.

Evidence and Investigation

Authorities say Fahim used what prosecutors described as a "hunting dagger" in the attack. Local reporting indicated Cuomo suffered at least 40 stab wounds. Investigators also discovered disturbing notes on Fahim's computer that discussed how serial killers select victims and whether a person could scream after having their throat slit. Coworkers had reportedly noticed erratic behavior and said Fahim had expressed frustration with Cuomo at work, claiming he was being micromanaged.

“The violence carried out in that apartment was not an act of insanity,” District Attorney Todd Spitzer said. “[Fahim] carefully calculated how to gain access to his victims’ apartment building, waiting for hours on the roof until he had the perfect opportunity to ambush his victim and execute a witness in the hopes of getting away with all of it.”

Legal Outcome

Last month Fahim pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and admitted special-circumstance allegations, including lying in wait, multiple murders and murder to avoid arrest, as well as a personal-use-of-a-deadly-weapon enhancement. Although he had already entered guilty pleas, jurors were asked to determine his sanity at the time of the offenses; the jury concluded he was sane. With that finding, Fahim faces two consecutive life terms without parole.

Victims and Community Response

Online tributes and obituaries described Griffin Cuomo and Johnathan Bahm as kind, engaged members of their community. A tribute to Bahm said he "elevated goodness and kindness to an art form," while a former professor remembered Cuomo as a passionate, curious student whose persistence inspired others. Family, friends and classmates have mourned the sudden and violent loss.

This case — alleged workplace tension that escalated into fatal violence — has prompted reflection in the victims' community and underscores concerns about warning signs and workplace mental health.
