Timothy, who was on the phone when the attack began, says he feared a violent episode in the months prior as his stepfather battled addiction and mental‑health issues. He is recovering in hospital, preparing to bury his mother, and faces a long road to recovery while the community raises funds to help cover medical and funeral costs.

Christian Timothy, a Utah man who survived multiple gunshot wounds, is speaking publicly after his stepfather allegedly opened fire inside the family home in Kearns on March 30. The attack left his mother, 61‑year‑old Kaylene Allred, dead and the alleged shooter, Floyd Allred, dead at the scene in what authorities describe as a murder‑suicide. What Happened

Timothy told local station KSTU the shooting unfolded while he was on the phone with a friend. He said the first shots did not register immediately; only after a second or third bullet hit him did he realize he was being targeted. His friend, Tricia Cruikshank, said she heard the commotion on the call and remembers Timothy telling her, "He shot me, he shot me."

"It didn’t dawn on me until probably the second or third bullet hit me that he was shooting at me," Timothy said. "At that point, it was just about taking cover and getting him away from my family."

Authorities say the incident began as a domestic dispute. People previously reported that Kaylene was on a 911 call with a dispatcher when the commotion and additional gunfire were heard on the line before the call ended. First responders later found Kaylene and Floyd Allred dead from gunshot wounds; Christian and Brittany were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Aftermath and Recovery

As he recovers, Timothy described the challenge of slowing down and resting. "The people who I’m staying with are constantly like, ‘You need to rest, you need to take it easy,’ and I can’t," he said. "I have to be doing something to keep my mind busy … It’s gonna be a long road." He is also preparing to bury his mother and said grief comes in waves: "There are moments where I think, ‘Oh I can ask my mom, oh I want to call my mom' … and I can’t."

Timothy told reporters he had feared a violent episode for months, describing his stepfather’s struggles with addiction and mental health problems and saying he had warned Floyd was "losing it." The family has since received community support, and a GoFundMe has been launched to help cover mounting medical and funeral expenses.

Community Response

The fundraiser describes Brittany as "one of the most loving and caring people you will ever meet" and highlights Christian as "a young father with a little girl who needs him home and healthy." Neighbors and community members have rallied to support the siblings as they recover and make funeral arrangements.
