Yosemite-Area Vacation Rental Owner Arrested After 4,000+ Suspected Child Abuse Files Found

A vacation rental near Yosemite National Park is the focus of a criminal investigation after authorities say a search of the property uncovered more than 4,000 files suspected to contain child sexual abuse material and a lifelike child doll that investigators say was intended for sexual use.
Christian Parmalee Edwards, 44, was arrested on March 19 when detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on Granite Butte Way in Oakhurst, about 15 miles south of Yosemite, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators allege the property was being operated as a short-term rental and that guests may have been secretly recorded during private moments without their knowledge.
Evidence Seized
During the search, detectives reported seizing more than 4,000 files believed to contain child sexual abuse material. Officers also say they found a lifelike child doll described as designed for sexual use; the doll's hands were reportedly bound. Investigators additionally recovered new children's clothing inside the residence.
Authorities say Edwards was watching a recently recorded video when detectives arrived to serve the warrant.
Investigation and Charges
The investigation began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged suspected distribution of illegal material originating in Madera County. Detectives worked with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to execute the search and collect electronic evidence.
Edwards was booked into the Madera County Jail and faces multiple felony charges related to possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Officials said additional charges, including invasion of privacy, could be added as the probe continues. Electronic devices tied to Edwards were seized for further forensic review.
At his initial court appearance a judge reduced bail from $225,000 to $75,000, the sheriff's office reported.
