The U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28 triggered a wider regional conflict that has killed thousands across multiple countries. HRANA reports 3,461 dead in Iran (including 1,551 civilians and at least 236 children), while the Red Cross Federation cites at least 1,900 killed and 20,000 injured in Iran. Lebanon reports 1,189 fatalities from Israeli strikes; Iraq reports at least 100 dead. Several Gulf states and other countries have also reported additional casualties. These figures have not been independently verified.

Thousands of people have been reported killed across the Middle East after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, which prompted retaliatory Iranian attacks on Israel, strikes on U.S. bases and Gulf states, and opened a new front in Lebanon. The death tolls below reflect the latest reported totals; Reuters has not independently verified these figures.

IRAN

HRANA, a U.S.-based rights group, reports 3,461 people killed since the fighting began, saying 1,551 of those were civilians, including at least 236 children. HRANA says its tally draws on field reporting, local contacts, medical and emergency sources, civil society networks, open-source material and official statements. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has reported at least 1,900 killed and 20,000 injured in Iran from the strikes; it was unclear whether that total includes at least 104 people Iran says died when a U.S. strike hit an Iranian warship off Sri Lanka on March 4.

LEBANON

Lebanese authorities say 1,189 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since March 2, including at least 124 children. Two sources familiar with Hezbollah’s count told Reuters that more than 400 Hezbollah fighters have been killed since the group began launching attacks on March 2; it is not clear whether the Lebanese official toll includes those fighters.

IRAQ

Iraqi health authorities report at least 100 people killed since the crisis began. The deaths include civilians, members of Iran-affiliated Shi'ite Popular Mobilisation Forces, U.S.-allied Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and Iraqi army soldiers. Port security officials also said one foreign crew member died in an attack on tankers near an Iraqi port.

ISRAEL

Israel’s ambulance service reports 19 people killed by missiles launched from Iran and Lebanon. The Israeli military said four Israeli soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon. Separately, on March 22 Israeli forces accidentally killed an Israeli farmer near the Lebanon border in a misfire.

UNITED STATES

Thirteen U.S. service members have been reported killed: six confirmed dead after a U.S. military refuelling aircraft crash over Iraq and seven killed in action during operations related to Iran. U.S. officials also said 12 U.S. troops were wounded — two seriously — in an Iranian strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

GULF STATES AND NEIGHBORS

United Arab Emirates: Authorities reported 10 killed in Iranian attacks, including two soldiers.
Qatar: Seven people died in a March 22 helicopter crash in Qatari territorial waters after a technical malfunction; victims included four Qatari service members, one Turkish serviceman and two technicians employed by Turkey’s defence firm ASELSAN.
Kuwait: Authorities reported six deaths, including two reportedly killed in Iranian attacks, two interior ministry officers and two army soldiers.
Bahrain: Authorities reported two people killed in separate Iranian attacks; the UAE defence ministry said one civilian contractor (a Moroccan national) was killed in an attack on Bahrain.
Oman: Omani officials reported two people killed in a March 13 drone strike on an industrial zone in Sohar province; a separate projectile strike on a tanker off Muscat earlier killed one person.
Saudi Arabia: Two people were killed when a projectile struck a residential area in Al-Kharj, southeast of Riyadh.

SYRIA AND WEST BANK

Syria: State news agency SANA reported four people were killed when an Iranian missile struck a building in Sweida on Feb. 28.
West Bank: Four Palestinian women were reported killed after an Iranian missile struck in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

FRANCE
