White House Launches TikTok 'Cabinet' Account, Confirms Official Management

The White House has launched a new TikTok account for the Trump administration's Cabinet and announced it on X. The account’s first post — a midday Thursday video — features clips of Kristi Noem, Vice President Vance, Pete Hegseth and President Trump, and the profile is labeled "Managed by [the] White House." This follows an initial White House TikTok launched in August, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says an October agreement in Kuala Lumpur secured Chinese approval to keep TikTok accessible in the U.S.

The White House has expanded its TikTok presence with a new account representing the Trump administration's Cabinet, the administration announced on X (formerly Twitter).

Breitbart was first to report the account's creation. The Cabinet profile opened with a midday Thursday video that stitches together clips of Trump administration figures — including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Vice President Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Trump — set to pulsating background music. The account’s biography explicitly reads: "Managed by [the] White House."

Background and Context

This new Cabinet account follows an earlier White House TikTok profile the administration launched in August as its initial presence on the platform. The expansion signals a continued push by the administration to use short-form video to reach audiences on social media.

“In Kuala Lumpur, we finalized the TikTok agreement in terms of getting Chinese approval,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business Network in October. “And I would expect that would go forward in the coming weeks and months, and we’ll finally see a resolution to that.”

Bessent’s comments referred to an October agreement reached in Kuala Lumpur that, according to him, secured Chinese approval for TikTok to remain accessible to users in the United States. Officials have framed the move as part of formal arrangements to address national-security concerns tied to the platform’s foreign ownership.

As the White House broadens its social-media strategy, observers will be watching how the new account is used — whether for policy outreach, public engagement, or multimedia promotion of administration priorities.
