Thames Valley Police and the family have issued statements expressing condolences.

Andrew Georgiou, 44, has pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife, Carol Georgiou, 42, admitting he drowned her in the couple's outdoor hot tub after they returned home from a night out on Nov. 2, 2024.

At a hearing on Tuesday at Aylesbury Crown Court, Georgiou entered the guilty plea to the charge of murder, according to reporting by the BBC, Bucks Free Press and Birmingham Live. Prosecutors say the incident occurred at the couple's home in Milton Keynes, roughly 50 miles northwest of London.

Delay and False Account

Prosecutors told the court that Georgiou waited about 40 minutes before calling emergency services. When he phoned 999, he initially told dispatchers he had walked outside and found his wife unresponsive in the hot tub; he later admitted in court that this account was false.

Arrest and Next Steps

Georgiou was arrested in July and will be sentenced on March 6, 2026, at Aylesbury Crown Court. The guilty plea concludes the current phase of proceedings but the sentencing hearing will determine the eventual punishment.

Thames Valley Police Detective Inspector Michael Roddy said: 'This is a tragic case and my thoughts and the thoughts of Thames Valley Police remain with Carol Georgiou’s loved ones at this difficult time.' The family released a statement remembering Carol as a devoted mother who 'cherished her role as a mother to her sons and brought joy and laughter wherever she went.' They added: 'Her passing has left a deep void in our family.'

Reporting on the case has been carried by national and regional outlets, including People magazine, which summarized local reporting. Court officials will hand down sentence in March 2026.
