Fox News commentator Jessica Tarlov says Donald Trump had "Trump 2028" hats made as early as last Christmas and gave her a personalized one, a detail she shared on MeidasTouch. Tarlov said she prefers to keep her distance from Trump despite the gift, viewing such gestures as political maneuvering. The revelation came after Trump joked about running for a fourth term at the White House Correspondents' Dinner and wore a "Trump 2028" cap, while also repeating claims about the 2020 election and taking a jab at Senator Chuck Schumer.
Fox News' Jessica Tarlov Says Trump Had 'Trump 2028' Hats Made Last Christmas — He Joked About A Fourth Term At WHCD

Fox News commentator Jessica Tarlov says former President Donald Trump produced customized "Trump 2028" hats as early as last Christmas — a detail she shared while explaining why she prefers to keep her distance from him despite the gift.
Speaking on the podcast MeidasTouch, Tarlov, who identifies as a liberal political commentator, described receiving personalized hats from Trump and said the gesture felt more strategic than merely jocular.
"When people say that about Trump, like, 'Oh, you'd be so charmed' — I'm just not interested in it. I think it's a lot safer, frankly, to stay away from it," Tarlov said. "For Christmas, for instance, he customized Trump 2028 hats for me, and you know said something like, 'Thank you for your great support.' And I get it that it's funny for a cheap laugh."
Tarlov added that while she does not seek a personal feud with Trump, she views such gestures as attempts to maintain long-term political influence: "I'm not really interested in palling around or playing nice," she said, while emphasizing that political disagreement need not become personal animosity.
Her comments surfaced days after Trump drew widespread attention at the White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD), where he made a tongue-in-cheek reference to running for a fourth term and produced a red cap labeled "Trump 2028," which drew cheers and puzzled reactions from the audience.
"To show just how much I care about the press, and because I want to save your ratings, I'm pleased to announce my intention to run for a fourth term as President of the United States," Trump joked at the dinner, before putting on the cap.
During the same appearance, Trump reiterated longstanding claims about past election results, asserting that he has "won the presidential elections three times" and repeating his belief that the 2020 election was illegitimate.
Trump also took aim at Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in a remark that continued an ongoing public feud, suggesting Schumer had changed his stance on Israel and mockingly referring to him as a "very proud Palestinian." The exchange echoed prior years of public barbs between the two politicians.
Tarlov referenced a separate recent White House meeting in November 2025 involving New York City Council member Zohran Mamdani, noting that Mamdani secured investment for his constituency while refusing to appear overly deferential for the cameras. She said she would find it hard to hide her own reactions in a similar situation.
Whether framed as a joke or a political signal, the early production of "Trump 2028" merchandise and the WHCD cap moment underline how Trump continues to use symbolism and spectacle to shape public narratives about his political future.
