Viral Video Shows Russian Soldier Thrown When Soviet YakB Gun Spins Out Of Control; Diplomacy And Attacks Continue

Footage circulated by media outlet East2West appears to show a Russian service member thrown several yards after a Soviet-era YakB-12.7 rotary machine gun, mounted on an improvised ground platform, spun violently out of control. East2West reported no injuries, though major outlets have not independently verified the time and place of the clip.
Video Shows Dangerous Improvisation
The four-barrel YakB-12.7 was developed for the Mi-24 "Hind" attack helicopter. According to East2West and other reports, Russian forces have tried repurposing such helicopter-mounted guns as ground-based defenses against Ukrainian drones. In the clip, the weapon’s recoil and rotation overcome its makeshift mounting, dragging a soldier before hurling him clear of the platform while a second serviceman ducks to avoid the spinning barrels.
Diplomacy and Warnings
Former U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is "ready to make a deal" to end the war in Ukraine. "I say, 'Vladimir, it's time for you to stop. It's time for this war to end,'" Trump said in an interview released Tuesday.
At the same time, Moscow warned that any multinational Western force deployed to enforce a future ceasefire would be treated as a legitimate military target. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters that such units would be unacceptable to Russia, according to Reuters.
Allies Discuss Multinational Force
Delegates from Western countries meeting in Paris reaffirmed plans to assemble a "coalition of the willing" that could deploy a multinational force once hostilities cease. Organizers say the proposed contingent would aim to reassure Ukraine and help rebuild its defenses.
Continued Fighting: Crimea And Odesa
Fighting on the ground continued. Ukraine's military reported striking the Balaklava thermal power station in Russian-occupied Crimea, a facility Reuters says provides nearly half of the peninsula's electricity. Russia launched a major drone and missile campaign against Ukraine's southern Odesa region, with regional governor Oleh Kiper reporting three civilian deaths and damage to industrial and port infrastructure after consecutive days of attacks.
Ukraine's Defense Plans
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv expects to develop the technical capability to manufacture missiles compatible with U.S.-made Patriot air-defense systems by the end of 2026, a step he framed as part of strengthening Ukraine's long-term deterrence.
