The Gaza Health Ministry reported that Israeli operations have killed 1,005 Palestinians since a ceasefire was reached with Hamas last October. Recent fatalities followed a series of Israeli drone strikes that hit towns and refugee camps in central Gaza and Gaza City. The ministry also said the broader Gaza war toll has surpassed 73,000 and does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. Israeli forces say they have expanded control inside the strip and continue targeting militants.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported on Wednesday that Israeli operations have killed 1,005 Palestinians since a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas last October. The ministry says the most recent fatalities followed a series of Israeli drone strikes over the past few days that struck towns and refugee camps in central Gaza and Gaza City.

Recent Violence Despite Ceasefire

Although a truce was agreed last October, the enclave has continued to experience near-daily airstrikes, as well as shelling and gunfire along the boundary that separates Israeli-controlled and Palestinian-controlled areas. Local authorities and residents have reported multiple incidents of strikes in population centers across the strip.

Casualty Figures and Sources

On Sunday, Gaza's Health Ministry said the overall death toll from the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza had surpassed 73,000. The ministry — staffed by medical professionals — does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its count and maintains detailed records that are generally regarded as reliable by many in the international community.

Note: Casualty figures in conflict zones can vary between sources. The Gaza Health Ministry's numbers reflect its internal tallies and reporting methodology.

Israeli Military Statement

In a separate statement Wednesday, the Israeli military said it continued operations against Hamas and allied militants inside Gaza and has expanded the amount of territory it controls within the strip. The military added that it killed two militants from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in strikes over the recent weekend.

The situation on the ground remains volatile, and both humanitarian and security concerns persist as international organizations monitor developments and casualty reporting.
