Keyshawn Michael Beckom, 23, a former Duluth Denfeld High School football standout, was pronounced dead at the scene of an early-morning single-vehicle crash about 25 miles west of Duluth, Minnesota, on Saturday, May 16, authorities said.
Crash Details
According to law enforcement and local reports, the crash occurred on Highway 2 in Culver Township at approximately 3:45 a.m. The driver of a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, identified as 24-year-old Lee Arthur Green of Duluth, reportedly entered oncoming traffic, lost control and the SUV struck a power pole, snapping it in half.
Arrest And Charges
Green suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was later booked into the St. Louis County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, jail records reviewed by PEOPLE show. Local reporting indicates Green was driving on a revoked license at the time of the crash.
Background On The Driver
Court records reviewed by local media show Green has two prior convictions for driving with a revoked license and a 2024 conviction for DWI and for carrying a pistol while under the influence. Charges related to the May 16 crash remain pending as investigators continue their work.

Beckom was recognized as a first-team all-district wide receiver at Duluth Denfeld High School in 2020 and later played at Minnesota North College–Mesabi Range in Virginia, Minn., the Star Tribune reported. His high school posted memories of his contributions to the team and community on Facebook.
