Russian drones struck Odesa overnight, injuring at least 18 people and damaging residential and civilian buildings, officials said. The Prymorskyi district sustained the worst destruction, with fires on upper floors and a roof now contained. Ukraine's air force reported one ballistic missile and 206 drones were launched since Wednesday evening, with 172 drones intercepted. Among the wounded was a 17-year-old boy, and two people remain in intensive care.

Russian drones attacked the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa overnight for the second time this week, injuring at least 18 people and damaging multiple residential and civilian buildings, local officials said on Thursday.

Damage And Casualties

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa regional military administration, said the central Prymorskyi district suffered the worst damage. High-rise and five-storey residential blocks were struck, triggering large fires on upper floors and a roof that emergency crews have since brought under control, Lysak said on Telegram.

Emergency services cautioned that the number of injured could still change as rescue and recovery operations continue. Among the wounded is a 17-year-old boy, and two people remain in intensive care in serious condition.

Civilian Infrastructure Hit

Officials reported substantial damage to civilian infrastructure, including a kindergarten, a shopping centre, a hotel and administrative offices. Dozens of buses and private cars were destroyed or damaged across several parking areas. In another district, strikes struck infrastructure facilities, warehouses and a garage cooperative.

Wider Assault And Air Defences

Ukraine's air force said that since 6 p.m. (1500 GMT) on Wednesday Russian forces launched one ballistic missile and 206 drones against targets in Ukraine. Of those drones, 172 were downed or neutralised, while one missile and 32 drones struck targets at 22 locations across the country.

Context: Odesa is a major Black Sea port and a key hub for Ukrainian grain and other exports. It has been repeatedly targeted during more than four years of the conflict.

Earlier this week, a separate attack on Monday injured 14 people, underscoring a sustained campaign of drone and missile strikes on populated and civilian infrastructure.

Officials: Reporting from local authorities and the regional military administration. Rescue teams continue to work at damaged sites and assessments of the full material and human toll are ongoing.
