India Crush South Africa By 101 Runs As Visitors Bowled Out For Record-Low 74 in T20 Opener

Cuttack, India — South Africa were dismissed for a record-low 74 in Twenty20 cricket as India thumped the visitors by 101 runs in the first T20 on Tuesday.
India, having lost the toss, posted 175 for 6 thanks to an explosive unbeaten 59 from Hardik Pandya off 28 balls. Pandya's late-innings assault — four sixes and six fours — revived India after they slipped to 78 for 4 in the 12th over.
The South African chase never took hold. The visitors steadied briefly at 45 for 3 but then collapsed to 74 all out in 12.3 overs as all six Indian bowlers claimed wickets, including Pandya (1-16) with a bowling cameo.
Key Performances
India: Hardik Pandya 59* (28), Arshdeep Singh 2-14, Axar Patel 2-7, Varun Chakravarthy 2-19, Jasprit Bumrah 2-17 (milestone 100 T20 wickets).
South Africa: Dewald Brevis top-scored with a brisk 22 off 14 balls; Lungi Ngidi returned 3-31.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel delivered an early breakthrough, bowling captain Aiden Markram for 14, and finished with tidy figures of 2-7 from two overs. Jasprit Bumrah's two wickets also took him past the 100-wicket mark in T20 internationals — a notable milestone for the pace spearhead.
South Africa's previous lowest T20 total was 87, coincidentally also made against India in 2022.
