A 20-year-old man, Diego Montoya Gonzalez, was indicted on multiple felony counts after being shot outside an Ohio home. Prosecutors say the girl’s father allegedly used his 11-year-old daughter’s TikTok to lure the suspect to the house after a video suggesting sexual conduct was found on the child’s phone. The father says he intended to confront the suspect and shot him after believing the man reached for a weapon; Montoya Gonzalez was reportedly shot twice and pleaded not guilty. Bond was set at $70,000 and the investigation is ongoing.

An Ohio father allegedly used his 11-year-old daughter’s TikTok account to lure a 20-year-old man to the family home, then shot the man after a confrontation. The suspect, Diego Montoya Gonzalez, has been indicted on multiple felony counts and pleaded not guilty at arraignment.

Case Details

Diego Montoya Gonzalez, 20, was indicted in Franklin County on five counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, two counts of rape and one count of obstructing official business, court records show. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Franklin County Common Pleas Court, local station WBNS reported.

According to prosecutors and a criminal complaint cited by WBNS, the investigation began on July 15 when the girl’s mother found a video on her 11-year-old daughter’s phone that appeared to show sexual conduct. The following day, prosecutors say, the girl’s father allegedly posed as his daughter on TikTok to arrange a meeting with Montoya Gonzalez at the family home.

Prosecutors say the father told investigators he intended to confront and assault the suspect before calling police. He has said he believed Montoya Gonzalez reached for a weapon, and that belief prompted him to open fire. Local reporting indicates the 20-year-old was shot twice.

“I can see why he went after him. I’m not saying it’s right, but that at least makes some sense. It wasn’t a senseless thing,” an unnamed neighbor told WSYX.

Court records list bond for Montoya Gonzalez at $70,000; it was not immediately clear whether he has been released. The case remains under investigation as prosecutors proceed with the charges filed in Franklin County.
