Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized a White House animated post she called tone-deaf amid rising living costs, after an X clip—styled like Rick and Morty—featured surreal imagery, a MAGA hat and a false claim that Donald Trump won three elections. Greene's rebuke highlights her growing distance from the MAGA movement since leaving Congress and spotlights broader GOP fractures over the Epstein files, Iran policy, and political messaging. She also said bomb threats were made against her home and described responses from Trump and J.D. Vance as inadequate.
Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams White House Over Surreal Animated Post, Escalating Rift With Trump

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the former congresswoman and one-time staunch Trump ally, renewed her public criticism of the White House this week after an animated clip posted to the official account drew her ire.
The clip, shared on X on Sunday, July 26, borrowed the visual style of the animated series Rick and Morty and stitched together surreal scenes set to dramatic music: swirling portals, UFOs and images of former President Donald Trump battling dragon-like creatures. A MAGA hat featured prominently throughout, and the caption closed with the line, "Hop in… best dimension yet," while also repeating a false claim that Mr. Trump had won three elections.
One sequence depicted President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance racing through the White House; another showed an officer dragging away an alien, an image many viewers read as a reference to ICE-led deportations. The Artemis II moon mission also appears briefly in the montage.
Greene wrote: "People can't afford gas, groceries, rent, and healthcare and this is the weird, embarrassing crap the White House account is putting out."
Greene's rebuke underscores an increasingly public rift between her and the MAGA movement. Since stepping down from Congress last November, she has distanced herself from some elements of the Trump orbit; critics accused her of hypocrisy for attacking messaging and tactics she previously supported.
The split has been driven in part by disagreements over how officials handled the Jeffrey Epstein files and by disputes over Iran policy. President Trump responded sharply to Greene's criticism, saying she was "not AMERICA FIRST or MAGA" and calling her a "traitor."
Greene also said the fallout from the dispute included bomb threats at her home. She said she raised safety concerns with both Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance but found their replies unsatisfactory. "J.D. Vance replied back to me, 'We'll look into it,'" she said, adding that she received a private reply from Mr. Trump that she described as "not very nice."
Whether the animated clip was meant as lighthearted promotion or political theater, Greene's public reaction illustrates ongoing tensions within the Republican Party as allies and critics jockey over messaging and accountability.
