Kelsey Grammer has publicly endorsed Spencer Pratt for the June 2 Los Angeles mayoral primary, calling him "the only guy that's a real option." Grammer criticized Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom while speaking at a Rustico event connected to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the Trump Accounts Tour. Pratt, who has also been backed by Dennis Quaid, is running on homelessness, public safety, fire preparedness and pro-business measures including the use of SB 43 to mandate treatment for severe addiction or mental illness. He says he does not seek celebrity endorsements and emphasizes a practical appeal to voters.
Kelsey Grammer Endorses Spencer Pratt, Calls Him "The Only Real Option" In LA Mayoral Race

Actor Kelsey Grammer has publicly endorsed former reality star Spencer Pratt in the June 2 Los Angeles mayoral primary, calling Pratt "the only guy that's a real option." Grammer made the remarks while speaking to Fox News Digital and later reiterated his criticism of local and state leadership in comments to the New York Post.
Grammer's Remarks And The Rustico Event
Grammer criticized incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom during interviews after attending a campaign gathering in Westlake Village. Speaking to the New York Post, he joked that he calls the mayor "Karen Bass-ackwards" at home and added of Newsom, "I just hope we've heard the last of him." The comments came at a Rustico restaurant event organized for U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, which drew supporters of Donald Trump and was part of the national Trump Accounts Tour promoting a new federal children's savings program.
Celebrity Backing And Pratt's Response
Pratt has attracted other high-profile endorsements: actor Dennis Quaid publicly urged voters to "Go, Spencer Pratt" during a May 23 interview with Fox News Digital. Quaid has criticized Mayor Bass for traveling abroad during recent Los Angeles wildfires and faulted city leaders over water shortages and budget cuts to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
When asked about celebrity endorsements, Pratt told Gutfeld!: "I actually don't want celebrities to come out and endorse me. I don't want anybody to endorse me except for the moms and the animal lovers in L.A. That's my entire vote." He added, "I'm cool if no celebrity ever endorses me. I actually love when the celebrities attack me because then I'm like, 'Oh, I am doing so well.'"
Pratt's Campaign Priorities
Pratt's platform focuses on homelessness, public safety, fire preparedness and reducing the cost of doing business in Los Angeles. He has said he would use California's SB 43 law to move people with severe addiction or serious mental illness into mandatory treatment, arguing that the crisis is driven by drug addiction rather than homelessness alone. Pratt also positions himself as pro-business, pledging to cut regulatory barriers for builders and expand film tax credits to attract production back to Hollywood.
Although Pratt is often viewed as a right-leaning candidate in a predominantly Democratic city, he maintains that many of his supporters are Democrats and frames his campaign as pragmatic rather than ideological. "My campaign now, how I identify, besides being the common sense American, is the 'look around' candidate," Pratt said.
