6-Year-Old Girl Dies After Go-Kart Accident at Urban Air Trampoline & Adventure Park in Florida

A 6-year-old girl died after suffering serious injuries in a go-kart accident at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on Saturday, Dec. 6, the Port St. Lucie Police Department said.

Incident Details

Police and emergency personnel were called to the park just before 9 p.m. local time following reports that a child had been hurt in a go-kart incident. First responders arrived on scene and the girl was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Pierce with critical injuries.

The child, whose identity has not been released, succumbed to her injuries the following day, on Sunday, Dec. 7, officials confirmed.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic incident that occurred at the Port St. Lucie, Florida, park over the weekend. Our deepest sympathies go out to the child’s family and loved ones," an Urban Air spokesperson said in a statement on Dec. 8.

The company added that its "policies, procedures and equipment are designed to keep children and families safe" and that the "well-being of the children and families we serve is always our top priority."

Urban Air confirmed staff and emergency teams responded immediately and said the park is closed while the company cooperates with state and local authorities. The Port St. Lucie Police Department said the incident remains under investigation and that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified.

Out of respect for the family, officials have not released the child's name or further personal details. Authorities and the operator declined to provide additional information while the investigation is ongoing.
