Two Teens Arrested After Teen Girl Found Shot and Burned Along Trail

Two teenage boys have been taken into custody after authorities say a 14-year-old girl, identified as Danika Troy, was found shot to death and her body set on fire along a wooded walking trail in Pace, Florida, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson said.

The girl’s mother had reported Danika missing on Monday; investigators say the killing occurred the night before. A passerby discovered the body in a wooded area off Kimberly Road — about 16 miles northeast of Pensacola — and called 911.

Investigators quickly identified and arrested two juveniles: 14-year-old Kimahri Blevins and 16-year-old Gabriel Williams. Sheriff Johnson said Williams allegedly took his mother's handgun, shot Danika multiple times, and the suspects then set her body on fire.

"It’s bad enough you kill a 14-year-old. You’re 14. You’re 16," Johnson told reporters. "Shoot her multiple times, and then they set her on fire."

Sheriff Johnson said detectives are still trying to determine a motive. "They have been interviewed, but the motive that they're giving does not fit the forensics or any facts of the case, so we don't have a legit motive," he said.

Blevins and Williams are being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice and face premeditated first-degree murder charges. The sheriff’s office is coordinating with the State Attorney’s Office to consider charging both suspects as adults. Johnson added that no parents have been charged at this time, though investigators are "looking into it."

The community and investigators continue to seek answers as authorities work through forensics and witness interviews. Officials have urged anyone with information to contact the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
