Deadly Nightclub Blaze in Goa Kills 25; Gas Cylinder Blast Reported

A fast-moving fire ripped through a nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, just after midnight, killing 25 people, officials said. Most victims were reported to be kitchen staff; three to four of the dead were tourists. Six people were injured and are in stable condition. Deadly Nightclub Fire in Arpora, North Goa

A fire tore through a popular nightclub in Arpora village, North Goa, just after midnight on Sunday, killing 25 people, authorities said. The club sits in a busy party area roughly 25 kilometers (15 miles) from the state capital, Panaji.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said most of those who died were the club's kitchen staff and that three to four of the victims were tourists. Six people were injured; officials described their condition as stable. Police have confirmed that all bodies have been recovered.

The Press Trust of India, quoting local police, reported that a gas cylinder blast triggered the blaze. Firefighters extinguished the flames and local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause and the chain of events that led to the tragedy.

Officials: Investigators and emergency teams remain at the scene. Further details will be released as authorities notify families and complete their inquiries.

Local and state agencies are coordinating victim identification and support for survivors. Authorities have also urged nightlife venues to review safety protocols while the probe continues.
